Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a system where farm customers purchase their share of the farm’s crops at the beginning of the growing season. This allows your farmers to better plan their crops, and provides income early in the spring when we need it most to get the season started. It is a great way for customers to support and connect with their local farmer, and commit to eating locally and seasonally.

Traditionally, CSA has meant a farmer’s choice vegetable box subscription, where your farmer selects and assembles a box of produce for you each week. This is what we have offered in the past. This system makes crop planning for us easier, and reduces the amount of produce that is wasted on the farm. It allows us to grow more niche or uncommon produce, knowing it will have somewhere to go. It is a great way for you to get aquainted with vegetables that you might not know very well, since we provide recipes and ideas for how to use our produce each week. It’s also a great option if you don’t want to make a shopping list each week, and want us to choose for you!

Signing up for a farmer’s choice box subscription means we are taking you along for the ride, whatever the season brings. If we are having a tough year, or a lower yield on a certain crop, we will prioritize getting the best of what we have to our box subscription members first. If we are having a good year or a particularly successuful crop, our box subscription members will get to share in the excess, with extra produce added to your boxes.

This year, in addition to the traditional model, we are offering a new CSA model - buy-ahead farm credit. Credit is purchased in the early spring, and can then be used to buy produce from us at the Farmer’s Market or our on-farm pop-up market. This could be a good option for you if you need more flexibility than the farmer’s choice box subscription provides, but would still like to be connected a local farm and commit to a season of eating organic by your purchasing produce in advance. As with the traditonal CSA model, having your investment early in the season is greatly helpful with the costs that come at the start of the season.

OPTION 1: Farmer’s Choice Box
Our Farmer’s Choice veggie box subscription runs for 18 weeks, from mid-June to mid-October. Each week, you will receive a box of vegetables that represents what is currently in season at Good Clean Farm, usually around 5-7 different items. You will also receive an email each week with information about the produce in your box, recipe ideas, and farm news.

We offer two share size options, regular ($425) and large ($600). The photos at the bottom of the page show examples of regular share boxes from June (left), August (middle) and October (right). Large shares typically include the same items as the regular boxes, but a larger quantity of two of the more common items. Regular shares have a value of around $25/week, whereas large shares have a value of around $35/week.

OPTION 2: Farm Credit
Instead of receiving a pre-determined box of produce, you can purchase farm credit that can be used buy produce of your choice from us at the Truro Farmers Market, or at our on-farm pop-up market. You do not have to shop every week, or spend the same value each week. When you make a purchase, that sale amount will be deducted from your total balance. You will receive an email confirming your updated balance after you make a purchase.

Farm credit can be purchased in the amounts of $425 or $600, same as the farmer’s choice shares. It can be purchased at any time, and is valid from mid-June (the start of our CSA season) until the end of the calendar year. Balances cannot be carried over into the new year, so remaining balances at that time will be considered a donation to the farm.

OPTION 1: Farmers Choice Box
The Farmers Choice veggie box subsctiption runs for 18 weeks. The first boxes will be ready on Wednesday June 10/Saturday June 13th and the last boxes on Wednesday October 7th/Saturday October 10th. This year we are no longer offerling delivery. However, we are now offering two pick-up options:

• Saturday, 8am-1pm at the Truro Farmer’s Market (15 Young St, Truro, NS)

• Wednesday, 3pm-6pm at the farm (901 Salmon River Road, Salmon River, NS)

Your CSA share will cost $425 for a regular share, or $600 for a large share, for the 18-week season, payable upon sign-up. Sign-up will be open until May 1 or capacity is reached.

OPTION 2: Farm Credit
Farm Credit can be purchased any time, and will be valid from the start of our CSA season, on June 10th 2026, until the end of the calendar year.

Credit is available in the same value amounts as the farmers choice subscription, $425 or $600. This does not have to be spent on any particular schedule - it can be used as needed until the end of the year. When you use your credit to make a purchase from us, you will receive an email confirming the amount spent and your remaining balance, so you always know how much you have left. Credit cannot be carried over to the next year, so any remaining balance at the end of December will be considered a donation to the farm.

You can use your credit to buy produce from us at the Truro Farmers Market (Satrudays 8-1), or on-farm (Wednesdays, 3-6, June to Oct). It can also be used for bulk purchases if arranged in advance.

This year, our CSA shares (both options) are 10% off thanks to the NS Loyal CSA Incentive Program. In their words, this program “supports Nova Scotia farms offering CSA subscriptions by providing a 10% consumer discount, reimbursed to participating farms, and targeted marketing support to help promote CSA sales.” This means you will be getting $425 worth of produce for $382.50 (save $42) or $600 worth of produce for $540 (save $60).
